The Force will be strong at the 40th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced Star Wars icon Carrie Fisher will present the award for Outstanding Special Class-Animation when the telecast airs on June 16.
Executive Producer Gabriel Gornell announced this will be the first ever telecast of the Outstanding Special Class-Animation Award to be presented by Carrie Fisher. This is the category that recognizes excellence in the art of Animation, not usually intended for younger children. Gornell stated “This category often celebrates sci-fi, action, and adventure genres with strong nominees this year including Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Legend of Korra, and Dan Vs.” Gornell continued “And for a category that celebrates Sci-Fi that happens to have a Star Wars nominee-there is nobody better to present the award than the one and only Carrie Fisher.”
