While it's all but given Dr. Robin Scorpio-Drake (Kimberly McCullough) will reclaim her husband and family next week on General Hospital, many a paramour of a soap character with a presumed dead spouse has refused to roll over and, ahem, play dead, when said spouse booked a return trip from Hades.
On Another World, Frankie Frame (Alice Barrett) held firm when Cass Winthrop's (Stephen Schnetzer) "dead" wife Kathleen McKinnon (Julie Osburn) turned up very much alive in Bay City, Illinois. In the end, the sassy psychic got her guy — only to eventually be snuffed out by a dayplayer serial killer.
Billie Reed (Lisa Rinna, et al.) may have unsuccessfully battled grave returnee Hope Williams Brady (Kristian Alfonso) for Bo (Peter Reckell, Robert Kelker Kelly) on Days of Our Lives, but Isabella Toscano (Staci Greason) managed to live happily ever after with John Black (Drake Hogestyn) — even after his beloved "Doc" (Deidre Hall) woke up from her coma with flawless flaxen locks and ample bosoms.
Of course, Isabella and John's happiness was short-lived, since she died of cancer and John and Marlena eventually got together. I guess we'll call this one a draw.
Sometimes the return of a lover's not-quite-dead spouse makes a nice soap heroine turn awfully naughty. Guiding Light's Annie Dutton (Cynthia Watros) was a mild-mannered nurse, until Josh Lewis' (Robert Newman) wife, Reva Shayne (Kim Zimmer), gave up life in Amish amnesiac exile to reclaim her husband and kids. Before you could say "Slut of Springfield," Annie was framing Reva for faked miscarriages and tossing her rival out of airplanes!
Maybe Sabrina Santiago, R.N. (Teresa Castillo) will bow out gracefully where Patrick (Jason Thompson) is concerned? Or, she could go the Annie Dutton route and decide to take a bat to Robin, as if she were a living, breathing Piñata. What would you rather see?
Should Sabrina give up Patrick and Emma (Brookyln Rae Silzer) on General Hospital without a fight?
