No. 10: Victor and Tea, One Life to Live
It was the reunion Victor (Trevor St. John) and Tea (Florencia Lozano) fans had been waiting for and boy did the popular One Life to Live couple deliver. While the rest of Llanview—including Victor's sister Viki (Erika Slezak)—may have had "Eh, what's the big deal?" reactions to Victor being alive, that wasn't the case for Tea.
From the moment he showed up at Llanview Hospital, every ounce of Victor and Tea's chemistry was reawakened. Yes, Victor and Tea's storyline suffered mightily throughout the course Prospect Park's reboot, but the intensity of their emotional connection never wavered.
No. 9: Wyatt and Hope, The Bold and the Beautiful
We'd given up wishing for an end to the nauseating love roller coaster of Hope (Kim Matula), Liam (Scott Clifton) and Steffy (Jacqueline M. Wood) on The Bold and the Beautiful. Who knew Steffy relocating to Paris and Hope spying a naked hunk showering in the bushes would be all it required to freshen up SoCal's soapy younger set?
Cocky, romantic jewelry executive Wyatt Fuller (Darin Brooks) only had eyes for fashion princess Hope Logan in 2013. He didn't waver back and forth, every time a Zales engagement ring commercial aired on TV, like his brother Liam. How great was it to see Hope giving Liam a taste of his own fickle medicine by sharing smooches and almost trysts in the steam room with his brother?
No. 8: Nikolas and Britt, General Hospital
We didn't really care for Dr. Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) back when she served as merely a manipulative foil to Patrick (Jason Thompson) and Sabrina's (Theresa Castillo) Disney fairytale happiness. What a difference a new storyline and new leading man makes!
Britt bonded with Port Charles' honorable Prince Nikolas Cassadine (Tyler Christopher) long before the two headed off to Cassadine Island, to battle practically every evildoer ever to appear on the soap. By the time Faison's (Anders Hove) daughter began to fall for Helena's (Constance Towers) grandson, we were already as taken with the pairing as Nik and Britt are with each other.
No. 7: Kristen and Brady, Days of Our Lives
How do you exact revenge on the Salem supercouple who ruined your life a decade-and-a-half ago? If you're Kristen Blake DiMera (Eileen Davidson), you seduce one of their dopey sons and rape the other one!
Kristen might have initially targeted John Black's (Drake Hogestyn) son to stick it to her ex and his pristine wife Dr. Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall), but she didn't bargain on actually falling in love with Brady (Eric Martsolf), just like we never bargained on actually rooting for this oh-so-inappropriately hot couple.
No. 6: Kevin and Chavez, The Young and the Restless
The Young and the Restless had a rough year creatively and very few couples inspired our interest. We enjoyed Lauren (Tracey Bregman) going back for more of Carmine's (Marco Dapper) Italian Sausage, but their heat was snuffed out when TPTB turned Carmine into a crazy, kidnapping stalker.
Thank goodness for wannabe criminal mastermind Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) and smart aleck cop Detective Alex Chavez (Ignacio Serricchio). The two men's antagonistic chemistry lit up our screens like sparklers at a Fourth of July picnic. Speaking of fireworks, when is Alex gonna show Kevin his roman candle?
No. 5: David and Angie, All My Children
Jesse (Darnell Williams) and Angie (Debbi Morgan) have a permanent place in the soap opera history books, as one of the most popular couples to ever appear on ABC Daytime's All My Children. However, Prospect Park's AMC was all about David (Vincent Irizarry) and Angie's intense interactions!
When Jesse told yet another whopper of a lie to Angie—this time neglecting to tell the woman her daughter had been sold to sex slavers—Angie turned to David. Who knew the town pariah could provide such sturdy, tanned shoulders for a dutiful doctor to cry on? One of our biggest regrets about AMC being "shelved", is not being able to see where this couple might have gone.
No. 4: Ava and Morgan, General Hospital
If General Hospital bottled the chemistry shared by mob legacies Ava Jerome (Maura West) and Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig), the soap would be able to sustain a $100 million annual operating budget. Back when a freshly-SORASed Morgan was hiding out at the penthouse of his girlfriend Kiki's (Kristen Alderson) "cool mom", we quickly noticed the hunky kid had much more chemistry with the senior Jerome.
The duo proved us right when they sexually destroyed one of the MetroCourt suites, following Kiki and Morgan's disastrous wedding party. Imagine our surprise when it became clear Ava and Morgan actually care about one another — even fully dressed! We suspect Mrs. Robinson would approve.
No. 3: Brooke and Bill, The Bold and the Beautiful
Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) is no stranger to illicit trysts. As daytime television's most sexually adventurous character, she's bedded her lover's father, her husband's son, her ex-husband's son, her other ex-husband's sailor half-brother, her daughter's husband, her other daughter's boyfriend, etc. You get the picture.
Our Logan never met a penis she didn't see the potential in, so it was no shocker she'd want to climb onto a sword-swingin' stallion like Dollar Bill Spencer (Don Diamont). Brooke gave resisting Bill the college try—since he was married to her kid sister Katie (Heather Tom)—but Stephanie's (Susan Flannery) demise, Ridge (then-Ronn Moss) breaking things off and Katie constantly pushing Brooke and Bill together caused Logan to give in to her most natural instinct. Yep, she screwed Bill's brains out and we loved it.
No. 2: Robin and Patrick, General Hospital
True love can survive anything. In the case of General Hospital's Patrick (Jason Thompson) and Robin (Kimberly McCullough), that includes her fiery "death". While Patrick eventually became involved with two women after he watched "Robin" explode in the lab, a huge part of his heart always belonged to his wife.
For her part, it was the love she felt for her husband and their adorable daughter Emma (Brooklyn Rae Silzer) that stayed Robin during her imprisonment on Cassadine Island and various other places maintained by the Port Charles International Legion of Doom. Sorry Sabrina (Teresa Castillo), dealing with the Britch (Kelly Thiebaud) and getting a makeover from your bestie to attract Patrick, will never compare to Robin going through hell and back to reunite with her man.
No. 1: EJ and Sami, Days of Our Lives
Margaret Mitchell's estate should ask Alexandra Ripley to return the money they paid her to write a sequel to Gone With The Wind. Oh, don't get us wrong. Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara's epic love affair lives on—only not in the pages of that tired Scarlett—five-days-a-week on NBC's Days of Our Lives!
Scheming, petulant, gossipy, vicious girl-woman Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) still thinks she's every bit the Belle of the Salem Ball. The only man strong enough to tame her is one as roguish, black-hearted, calculating, cruel and sexually brazen as she is — EJ DiMera (James Scott). Only if he isn't careful, he'll be the one to be tamed!
In 2013, TPTB finally wised up and stopped scripting scenarios where Sami and EJ did violent things to one another and had them turn those particular talents on the rest of Salem. For one another, EJami only had all-consuming love this past year and we couldn't get enough of it.
Whether it was covering up a pesky murder or taking on the Phoenix (Joe Mascolo) himself, EJami had one another's backs, fronts, sides and other places we can't mention on a family friendly blog.
