Ezra (Ian Harding) told Aria (Lucy Hale) about Spencer’s (Troian Bellisario) drug problem. He also showed her Spencer’s file, which referenced a drug problem Spencer had two years ago.
Later, Aria, Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Emily (Shay Mitchell) staged an intervention. All Spencer cared about was finally telling Aria that Ezra was Board Shorts. Aria didn’t believe her. Hanna and Emily no longer supported her theory because of the drugs.
Spencer was frustrated at not only being discredited, but also that she was out of pills. She repeatedly called her doctor—posing as her mother—to try and get a refill. Later, the doctor’s office called Mrs. Hastings (Lesley Fera) because of the suspicious behavior. Now Spencer’s mom finally knew what was going on.
Mrs. Hastings confronted Spencer, and told her she would not go through this again. No more pills for Spencer. Get it together, girl!
Aria told Ezra about everything with Spencer. He let slip something only “A” would know, which freaked Aria out. Later, she went to his cabin to snoop, and found a hidden manuscript all about Alison (Sasha Pieterse).
Ezra showed up, and Aria fled. The shady English professor was hot on her trail. They ran through the woods, and ended up trapped on a defunct ski lift. Aria had no choice but to let him explain, so Ezra told the truth.
Ezra knew Ali before she "died." Afterwards, he came to town to write a true crime novel about her murder. He took the job at Rosewood to get close to Ali’s friends, and that’s why he pursued a relationship the Aria too.
He swore he wasn’t “A,” and would never hurt any of them, but he did follow them around a lot during his investigation. He told Aria his feelings for her had been genuine, and he’d stopped writing his book because of it. After their breakup, however, he resumed, and that’s when he discovered Ali was really alive.
Ezra said he’d throw the book away, but a dubious Aria said she wanted to read it. Unfortunately, then she dropped it down the ski lift. Hopefully it wasn’t the only copy.
I never thought Ezra was “A,” but he’s still a huge creep for lying to Aria this entire time, and romancing her under false pretense. Ezria might not come back from this.
