Pretty Little Liars aired its latest season finale, but did it provide answers as promised? Dive into the recap below to find out about all the latest drama!

To the girls' surprise, Noel (Brant Daugherty) was the mystery person helping Alison (Sasha Pieterse). Alison seemed truly apologetic about everything. She started to tell them the whole story.

Alison said back in the day she’d been getting harassed by “A.” They finally threatened to kill her the night of the girls’ slumber party.

Alison went to work knocking people off her list of suspects. She stole a copy of all of Ian’s (Ryan Merriman) incriminating N.A.T. vids, to negate Ian and Melissa (Torrey DeVitto). She used one of the videos to blackmail Jenna (Tammin Sursok), and she roofied all her friends at the party.

Because of Spencer’s (Troian Bellisario) drug dependency, she woke up, and got into a scuffle with Alison. Alison realized she was taking speed and promised not to tell. Spencer went to go sleep it off. Alison crossed Byron (Chad Lowe) off the list of suspects too.

Alison and Ezra (Ian Harding) had a mild flirtation, but it never really went anywhere. He wanted to write a book about her, but cut ties the night she went missing. Ezra was sick of all her lies, including her lying about being 21. She felt bad about what happened with him and Aria (Lucy Hale).

Later, someone hit Alison on the back of the head with a rock, in front of her mother.  When she came to, Alison was being buried in a shallow grave by her mom!  Alison was too weak to get her mother’s attention.

Eventually, she was pulled from the grave by Mrs. Grunwald (Meg Foster), who took her to the hospital.  Scared, she fled, and was picked up by Mona (Janel Parrish), who cared for her.

It was Mona’s idea for Alison to fake her death in order to stay safe. In return, Ali gave Mona a makeover so she’d be popular.  Alison never realized Mona was on Team “A” and wanted her gone the whole time.

Alison told her friends “A” hurting them was what brought her out of hiding. She also admitted to helping save them several times.

Then, suddenly a man in “A’s” all black uniform burst in, with a gun, and started shooting. The girls ran, and ended up on the roof.

Ezra showed up. He said he knew who the masked villain was. The pair struggled.

The athletic assailant got away, as Ezra lost consciousness because of a gunshot wound. Aria was hysterical.

The episode ended with “A” burying an unconscious (dead?) Mrs. DiLaurentis (Andrea Parker).

Back in Rosewood, Det. Holbrook (Sean Faris) was interviewing Spencer’s parents and sister. He was also tracking the girls because he thought they could lead the cops to Alison. After listening to Ali’s story, Spencer was relieved to learn she hadn’t been the person who hurt Ali, or the other girl.

Later, Melissa whispered something to her dad, which shocked him.  Was she confessing to killing the other girl?

Mrs. DiLaurentis wanted to protect Ali’s would-be murderer so much, she tried hiding the body and framing Spencer. There’s only one person I can think of she’d want to protect, her son Jason (Drew Van Acker).  Why would Jason do all this?

PLL sure did drag out delivering the “answers.”  I wonder if this was a creative choice, or if it was just the first time they could round up all the necessary supporting players?

It’s unfortunate PLL didn’t finally reveal who the uber “A,” was. With both Mrs. DiLaurentis and Ezra possibly dead, it could be another four seasons before we find out. At least now all the dots have been connected.
