Not only does Scandal'sTony Goldwyn act and direct, he also creates television serials! Goldwyn and Richard LaGravenese co-helm WeTV's first original scripted drama, The Divide.
The series, set to premiere July 16, stars Marin Ireland as fervent lawyer Christine Rosa. She represents The Innocence Initiative and goes head to head with district attorney Adam Page (Damon Gupton).
The two attorneys are in an all out battle over a case where two white construction workers, Terry Kucik (Joe Anderson) and Jared Bankowski (Chris Bauer), seemingly murdered a wealthy black family.
Adam successfully prosecuted the suspects of the crime, and Bankowski is sentenced to death. Rosa firmly believes the two construction workers are innocent of the murders, and works diligently to exonerate them.
The district attorney will do whatever it takes to ensure the judge’s guilty ruling stays in place — and his good reputation goes untarnished. Adam's attempts to uphold the status quo cause major problems in his relationship with wife Billie, a high-powered corporate lawyer, portrayed by Guiding Light alum Nia Long.
The eight-episode series also features Paul Schneider, Clark Peters and Aunjanue Ellis. Watch the thrilling trailer for The Divide below.
