Hope Logan (Kim Matula) has been embroiled in one love triangle or another for her entire adult life on The Bold and the Beautiful. She battled Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) for both Oliver (Zack Conroy) and Liam's (Scott Clifton) hearts. Her rival leaving town didn't make things easier for Ms. Logan. Post Steffy she's had to decide whether she wants to be with Liam, or his half-brother Wyatt (Darin Brooks).
On the red carpet at the 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, Kim Matula, who plays the romantically-challenged heroine, shared why she wouldn't want to be in Hope's shoes, how Hope feels about her father's return and why she wants Hope to get tipsy.
Daytime Confidential: Hope has been in the enviable position of having two gorgeous men waiting around for her to make up her mind about which one of them she wants to be her boyfriend. Has it been fun playing out every woman’s fantasy?
Kim Matula: Oh my God. Never. I would be so stressed out if I were in that position for real, especially if they were brothers. I wouldn’t know what to do with myself.
DC: Hope finally chose Liam. Is that it? Will their relationship finally last?
KM: What do you think? If she wasn’t going back and forth all the time, where’s the storyline?
DC: Deacon has returned. What sort of relationship will Hope forge with her biological father?
KM: It’s a relationship they have to work on. They’re not all buddy-buddy. A lot has gone down between them in the past. Hope wanted a relationship and Deacon (Sean Kanan) does too, but there’s a big trust issue there; so they have to build that up.
DC: Deacon has already teamed up with Quinn. What is he going to do to try to get her back on Team Wyatt?
KM: I have no idea. You know Deacon. He’s always doing something extreme, so I’m sure we can expect that from him.
DC: Ridge has been a father figure to Hope for her entire life. Does his pretending not to have amnesia, when he has no idea how he ended up engaged to Katie impact her?
KM: I think Hope is just going to be supportive.[She] is going to be there every way she can.
DC: You recently filmed on location in Paris. What was that like?
KM: It was amazing. We got to go to Monte Carlo and to Paris for filming. I’d never been to Paris before. That was my first time and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We basically got a great city tour because we were filming there. It was beautiful. I’d like to go back some day.
DC: [Don Diamont joins her on the carpet.] Can you envision Hope and Bill ever becoming romantically involved? She would be following in Brooke’s footsteps by dating two brothers and their father.
KM: That would be a storyline! It would be like angry, passionate relationship, like push everything off the desk and make love on it.
DC: I think Liam and Quinn have that vibe.
KM: Ooh, yeah! She brings her knives to the bedroom. That would be interesting. I’ll put that in to the writers.
DC: Should Hope finally get legally married?
KM: That would be interesting. She’s never actually been married though she’s had a gazillion weddings. I would love to see that happen. They’ve been talking about it for so many years.
DC: How would you like to see Hope’s character evolve? In some ways, she’s a strong woman but –
KM: In other ways she’s pretty weak. I would love to see her do something bad. I’d love to see her have a couple drinks at the Bikini Bar and see what kind of decisions she makes after she’s had a couple drinks. Maybe some true decisions could come out at that moment. Who knows?
