Pretty Little Liars Recap: “Thrown From the Ride”

On this week’s Pretty Little Liars, Spencer (Troian Bellisario) worried one of her relatives killed Alison’s (Sasha Pieterse) mom. Aria (Lucy Hale), Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Ali began to mentally unravel. Also, one of Rosewood’s estranged couples looked on track to reconcile!

Spencer, of course, remained suspicious of her dad. She wanted her mom to find out what her dad and Melissa (Torrey DeVitto) were hiding, but she refused. Mrs. Hastings did reveal that Mrs. DiLaurentis was going to go to the police and tell them (a.k.a. lie that) Spencer had been the one to hurt Alison/the dead girl in Ali’s grave.

A toxicology report revealed Mrs. D died because someone tampered with her blood pressure medication. Spencer feared her dad was involved with Mrs. D’s death, but later thought it might have been her mother.

This being PLL, it could be neither, with one unnecessarily covering for their spouse, or they just wrongly believe they’re murderers, or one or both is an actual murderer. We might never know until the girls’ 10-year high school reunion.

Alison was in a bad place because her dad was suggesting they move, and the cops wanted to examine her and go over her story again. The doctor noticed a knife wound on Ali’s thigh. She didn’t want to talk about it though, and lied about getting it during her escape from her “kidnapper.”

Alison had recorded herself during questioning and told the other girls to memorize her replies. They reluctantly promised to do so, but said it would be the last lie they told.

Aria was freaking out over killing Shana still. This included watching Shana’s funeral online over and over because someone had uploaded it to YouTube. Seriously, who videos a funeral like that? Talk about tacky!

Aria turned to Emily (Shay Mitchell), who also overcame killing a crazy person, and Ezra (Ian Harding) for support. Aria and Ezra bonded and it made her nostalgic for their romantic relationship, although she ultimately kept him at arm’s length.

Mona (Janel Parrish) was still organizing Get Alison Back. Lucas (Brendan Robinson) wanted to back out because he felt bad about Alison’s kidnapping ordeal. Mona revealed that was all a lie. It looked like that got Lucas on board again, and he soon started trying to reconnect with Hanna.

Speaking of Hanna, she was still suffering an identity crisis. This week, that meant revamping her wardrobe, and she reverted back to her shoplifting ways.

Mona continued to want Paige (Lindsey Shaw) to join her scheme, but she refused. Instead Paige warned Emily that Alison should transfer to a new school because everyone she wronged wasn’t going to take her return lying down.

Alison, meanwhile, had spent her free time reading all the nasty comments her classmates had made about her online after her death. Basically, she was Satan and they were glad she died. Despite this, and Emily’s warning, Alison was determined to return to Rosewood High.

Next week is PLL’s 100th episode. What kind of cray-ness could the girls possibly find themselves in?
