Pretty Little Liars Recap: “Taking This One to the Grave”
Pretty Little Liars got very Game of Thrones during Tuesday night's summer finale. Alliances crumbled and someone died. Let’s dig in!
The girls teamed up with Mona (Janel Parrish) to protect themselves against Alison (Sasha Pieterse). Meanwhile, Mona’s Army switched allegiance over to Alison.
Mona told the girls she thought Alison was “A,” and was about to end her game by pinning everything on them. This naturally made Aria (Lucy Hale), Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Emily (Shay Mitchell) uneasy.
Rosewood PD made Alison take a polygraph test. Mona stole the files of the interrogation so the girls could watch.
They didn’t think it seemed so bad, but there were a lot of questions about Spencer and Bethany’s murder. Alison insisted she didn’t kill the girl.

The girls raided the costume store again, and Mona and Spencer snuck into Radley disguised as nurses. They went through Bethany Young’s files. It turned out Ali’s mom and Bethany’s dad were having an affair — the two girls knew each other.
Spencer was arrested for Bethany’s murder. The cops thought she killed Bethany to win favor with Alison.
Mona did more digging. She called Aria and told her Alison lured Bethany to Rosewood because she was upset about their parents’ affair. Mona also said she could prove Ali was “A.”
By the time the gang raced over there, Mona was presumed dead. A person in a black hoodie with long, blonde hair stuffed her body in the trunk of a car.
If all that wasn’t enough for a #fAtaleFinale ,Emily and Paige (Lindsey Shaw) got back together, as did Aria and Ezra (Ian Harding). Also, Toby (Keegan Allen) officially became a cop, but broke his leg in a horrific car accident.
The second half of Pretty Little Liars Season 5 will debut in January 2015, but first there’s a Christmas special this December.
