With Lifetime’s release of The Unauthorized Saved By The Bell Story this past week, the original Saved By The Bell TV show has once again become a hot topic. Let’s take a look at a few daytime and primetime soap stars who appeared on one of my favorite shows!
Tori Spelling (Beverly Hills, 90210)
SBTB: Violet Anne Bickerstaff
BH 90210: Donna Martin
One of Beverly Hills, 90210’s top female stars was once a nerdy schoolgirl at Bayside High. Tori Spelling portrayed Violet Anne Bickerstaff, a girl geek who wore her hair in braided pigtails and had big, bifocal glasses on Saved By The Bell.
Violet was originally paired with Maxwell Nerdstrom (Jeffrey Asch), who treated her terribly. Screech (Dustin Diamond) managed to steal her away, leading to a pocket-protecting teen romance. Violet even saved the day during The Glee Club episode with her angelic voice.
After her three-episode stint as Violet, Spelling enrolled in that other 90's, fictional California high school — West Bev. The actress played good girl Donna Martin for 10 seasons of Beverly Hills, 90210.
Tiffani Thiessen (Beverly Hills, 90210)
SBTB: Kelly Kapowski
BH 90210: Valerie Malone
Bayside High School’s most popular student, Kelly Kapowski (Tiffani Thiessen) was your typical, beautiful, all-American girl. She naturally ended up with the most rad boy in school, Zack Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar).
Zack and wholesome Kelly were the teen sitcom’s supercouple and eventually married in Saved By The Bell: The Movie. However, Beverly Hills 90210’s Valerie Malone was a bitch on heels.
During the character's very first episode replacing Shannen Doherty's Brenda, Val was smoking pot in the Walsh house! Playing Val was a world away from saccharine-sweet Kelly for Thiessen. She successfully filled the bitchy brunette slot on 90210 for six seasons.
Mario Lopez (The Bold and the Beautiful)
SBTB: Albert Clifford “AC” Slater
B&B: Dr. Christian Ramirez
Albert Clifford “AC” Slater’s (Mario Lopez) dimples and chiseled pecs were enough to melt the hearts of many teenagers during his run on Saved By The Bell. Slater wanted to be with Kelly, but ended up a better match for Jessie "I'm So Excited" Spano (Elizabeth Berkley).
Saved By The Bell’s former wrestling champion eventually made his way to CBS Daytime;s The Bold and The Beautiful as Dr. Christian Ramirez. Christian was Felicia Forrester’s (Lesli Kay) secret doctor during her recovery from cancer and a liver transplant.
Christian and Felicia shared an attraction to each other, but nothing really came from it. Christian only lasted on The Bold and The Beautiful for four months before he bid Los Angeles adieu.
Patrick Muldoon (Days of Our Lives, Melrose Place)
SBTB: Jeffrey Hunter
DOOL: Austin Reed
MP: Richard Hart
Patrick Muldoon had the honor of portraying arguably one of Saved By The Bell’s most hated characters, Jeffrey Hunter. Jeff came on the scene as the new manager of The Max. He set his sights on waitress Kelly, who was dating Zack.
Jeff was older, in college, and not to mention gorgeous. Kelly couldn't resist his charms!
Kelly broke Zack's heart to be with Jeff. The new relationship only lasted two episodes, because Jeff was cheating on Kelly. How dare he!
Shortly after his SBTB stint, Muldoon went on to originate the role of Austin Reed on Days of Our Lives. He also did a stint on Melrose Place as vicious, philandering mogul Richard Hart.
Lark Voorhies (The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of Our Lives)
SBTB: Lisa Turtle
DAYS: Wendy Reardon
BB: Jasmine Malone
Before Lark Voorhies made appearances on Days of Our Lives and The Bold and The Beautiful, she was Lisa Turtle on Saved By The Bell. Ms. Turtle served as Bayside’s resident fashionista and gossip.
Screech was helplessly in love with her, but she did not feel the same way. Lisa was a no-nonsense character armed with sarcasm, but had a good heart.
On Days of Our Lives, Voorhies played single mom Wendy Reardon for a year. She then left for The Bold and The Beautiful.
In Los Angeles, she was Jasmine Malone, a fashion design intern for Forrester Creations. Voorhies held a contract role, but quit in 1995, reportedly due to the role conflicting with her religion.
Who was your favorite Saved By The Bell character to end up on a soap?
