In an upcoming tell-all book, veteran journalist Sheila Weller accuses Katie Couric of making some damning remarks against colleague Diane Sawyer. Weller claims while Couric gives off the "American Girl" persona, she was really a mean girl who held grudges.
In Weller's book, The News Sorority, Couric, Sawyer and Christiane Amanpour are zeroed in on for their professionalism. Weller claims once Couric found out Sawyer snagged an interview with a 57-year-old woman who gave birth to twins, Couric allegedly remarked:
I wonder who she blew this time to get it?
So far Couric has declined to make a comment, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, a close friend of hers stated:
It's sad that the author and her PR team continue to alienate their target audience by relying on classic anti-feminist caricatures, tabloid-like misrepresentations and outright falsehoods about these three extraordinary women.
Weller's book hits stores Sept. 30.
