Will The Talk "Dare" to Dethrone The View This Season?

The Talk ended last season on a high. Meanwhile, The View was in a state of constant upheaval. Will the CBS Daytime program be the top dog in network daytime talk this season?

The New York Post caught up with The Talk'sJulie Chen and asked if the CBS gabfest can steal the daytime crown from The View. Chen, ever the diplomat, provided a classic response.

“Hopefully the ratings gods will continue to smile upon us, but who knows?” says Chen. “They’re veterans [at ‘The View’] and I never count them out. I don’t know what’s happening over there. Sometimes change is great and sometimes it’s not so great. I think they’re taking a big gamble and I kind of applaud that.”

The Talk has gelled in recent seasons, by mixing humorous dish, fun interviews, personal revelations and cross-promotion of the entire CBS lineup.  The View lost its biggest names with the exits of Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd. Short-lived co-host Jenny McCarthy proved unpopular with viewers, and was shown the door.

The View returns this fall with the addition ofRosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace to the show's table alongside Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O'Donnell. Will the changes be enough to stop the bleed-out?
