Eva Longoria is one of the most in demand actresses this development season. According to Deadlineboth ABC and NBC are vying for the Desperate Housewives and The Young and the Restless alum, with NBC offering to make her a Telenovela star.
Universal TV is developing Telenovela, a comedy detailing the behind-the-scenes antics of a hit Spanish-language soap opera for Longoria. The lead role of the ambitious star of a hit show was written specifically for the actress.
The Peacock network’s sister channel, Telemundo, could also get involved. Spanish-language webisodes of the show-within-a-show may be recorded to promote the NBC series. Longoria would likely not appear.
ABC is also developing a half-hour comedy for the Desperate Housewives alum. Which project would you rather see Longoria focus on? Sound off in the comments!
However, NBC may have the advantage. They have been instrumental in launching Longoria’s production company, UnbeliEVAble Entertainment and collaborated on projects which she produced.
Telenovela gets a 13-episode order if Longoria signs on to lead the dramedy. It will still get a pilot order should she pass.
