USA will adapt hit Telemundo telenovela La Reina Del Sur (The Queen of the South), according to The Hollywood Reporter. The story follows a woman named Teresa Mendoza who takes over a Mexican drug cartel after her boyfriend is murdered.
Launched in 2011, La Reina Del Sur became one of Telemundo's most popular soaps to date. It was the network's highest-rated premiere yet, and often beat out broadcast English-language programming in the ratings.
Previously, NBC and USA announced it would adapt two other Telemundo telenovelas, The Lord of the Skies and Woman of Steel.
