Days of Our Lives'Casey Moss is one of the most compelling young actors to join the genre in recent years. From the day JJ Deveraux returned to Salem, he brought much-need drama to mom Jennifer's (Melissa Reeves) snore of a life.
JJ and fellow legacy offspring Theresa Donovan (Jen Lilley), both among soap's must-see TV hell raisers, had combustible chemistry when their toxic characters came together. We totally bought into the teenage frustration and rage a druggy JJ showcased over his recently-widowed mother moving on with Dr. Dan (Shawn Christian).
Then Theresa's milquetoast niece Paige (True O'Brien) caught JJ's eyes. Suddenly, the hot, viable young man was completely neutered, roaming around Horton Square in a community service jacket, while crushing on Gidget.
Days of Our Lives once excelled at launching and developing compelling teen storylines. Unfortunately, JJ and Paige will never join the ranks of Shawn, Belle, Mimi and the rest of the Last Blast gang. Nor will they ever be regarded in the same positive light as Carrie/Austin/Sami/Lucas. When fans are more intrigued by little Ciara's (Lauren Boles) antics than those of the town's coeds, there's a problem.
There are ways to salvage JJ. DAYS keeps teasing a torrid May/December romance between JJ and Paige's mother, Eve Donovan (Kassie DePaiva). That would certainly make things more interesting. Let's hope something does and soon.
Should Days of Our Lives break up JJ and Paige?
