Rumblings of a long-time associate producer at The Young and the Restless being shown the door hit the web this past weekend. The story was confirmed—and the identity of said producer was revealed—via a tweet from TV Guide Magazine's Michael Logan:
Josh O'Connell has worked production for the CBS Daytime soap since the late 90's. He was promoted to associate producer in 2003, according to IMDB.
O'Connell is reportedly very close to the Bell family and many among Y&R's veteran cast. While some bloggers are purposefully inflaming the situation, citing O'Connell's dismissal as a move to get rid of all Bell loyalists, it must be noted that pretty much happened during Lynn Marie Latham's rein as executive producer.
There hasn't been nearly as much behind-the-scenes upheaval, or Bell legacy gutting, under Jill Farren Phelps. That being said, getting rid of people who actually remember how the late Bill Bell produced a soap opera seems like a bad move.
