CBS Daytime is mourning the loss of veteran The Young and the Restless actor Beau Kazer. He was 63. Kazer originated the role of Katherine Chancellor's (the late Jeanne Cooper) playboy-turned-missionary son Brock Reynolds in 1974.
"It is with great sadness to share the news that Beau Kazer passed away on December 30th in Thousand Oaks, California," said a Y&R spokesperson. "Beau originated the role of Brock Reynolds in 1974 and made frequent appearances on the show throughout the years. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Alkus who wanted everyone to know Y&R was a large part of his life that he was very proud of."
Born in Toronto, Kazer studied at the famed Stella Adler Studio of Acting before joining the cast of The Young and the Restless. In her memoir, Cooper revealed she and her TV son had been lovers.
Brock Reynolds was Katherine Chancellor's son from her first marriage to Gary Reynolds. Kay was stunned to learn her tomcat of an offspring had found religion when he turned up at the Chancellor estate in 1974.
Brock's love for the Lord didn't prevent him from romancing nubile Genoa City females like Lori Brooks (Jaime Lyn Bauer), Jill Foster (then-Brenda Dickson), Julia Newman (Meg Bennett) and Gina Roma (Patty Weaver). In 1999, it was revealed Brock fathered a daughter, Mackenzie Browning (Ashley Bashioum et al.), with a fellow missionary. Watch a few classic clips of Kazer as Brock below.
