The ladies of The Talk have ascended to the network daytime talk ratings throne. The CBS Daytime talk show beat ABC's The View in viewers for the first time since it premiered in 2010. The Talk tied The View in key female demos, according to the Nielsen ratings.
The Talk has only grown stronger over the years, as the chemistry between Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Aisha Tyler and Sheryl Underwood has gelled. The show has also benefited from the steady hand of Angelica McDaniel, who has successfully strengthened the network's brand and cross-promoted The Talk and CBS Daytime's soaps and game shows.
The View has gone through massive upheaval during the past few years. It lost creator Barbara Walters and co-hosts Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Sherri Shepherd and the short-lived Jenny McCarthy.
The talk show rebooted this past fall with a lineup featuring Whoopi Goldberg, the return of Rosie O'Donnell and introductions of Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace. Rumors of Perez exiting have already surfaced and reports that Good Morning America wants to snatch upThe View's time period only muddy matters.
Unlike CBS, ABC has done little in cross-promoting of fellow talk show The Chew and barely so much as acknowledges the only show holding the lineup together, General Hospital.
