We've been on a bit of a blogging mini vacay this Valentine's Day/President's Day long weekend, but that didn't stop news from dropping like airplanes and/or roofs on The Young and the Restless! Let's catch up on some of the latest headlines, including General Hospital taking home the Writers Guild of America (WGA) Award for Daytime Drama writing.

GH bested Days of Our Lives Sunday night at the WGA Awards. The almost 52-year-old ABC Daytime drama took home the award with a submission centered on the Nurses Ball finale and Nurse Sabrina Santiago (Teresa Castillo) reeling from the loss of her son with Dr. Patrick Drake (Jason Thompson). I'm sure Ron Carlivati and his team (Anna Theresa Cascio, Suzanne Flynn, Kate Hall, Elizabeth Korte, Daniel James O’Connor, Elizabeth Page, Katherine Schock, Scott Sickles and Chris Van Etten) are still doing The Bankhead Bounce over their win today!

Speaking of soap opera creative teams who are grooving right along, Winterthorne, Michael Caruso's highly-anticipated webisoap follow-up to DeVanity, has snagged a member of soap opera royalty. Dallas veteran Linda Gray will appear in the sudser as the mother of Days of Our Lives grad Martha Madison. Madison, who is set to play the titular role of lethal candy mogul Miranda Winterthorne, broke the casting news on Soap Box.

We don't know if Ryan Paevey will be breaking any news on The View tomorrow—or even managing to get a word in edgewise—but the General Hospital heartthrob will be co-hosting the embattled coffee klatch.

The Young and the Restless newcomer Justin Hartley is also set to do a little moonlighting. Genoa City's new Adam Newman/Gabriel Bingham will reprise the recurring role of Scott on ABC's Mistresses this summer. I hear the actor is taping during his vacation time away from Y&R.

The Bold and the Beautiful starlet Linsey Godfrey (Caroline) is on the mend and home from the hospital. On Feb. 2, the actress was hit by a car while walking in L.A. Follow her inspiring journey to recovery on Twitter @linseygodfrey.

If you're going to be in SoCal on April 1, you'll want to grab tickets for the 6th Annual Indie Soap Awards. One of the funniest soap hunks on the planet, Eric Martsolf (Brady, Days of Our Lives), is hosting the kudofest. Click here for a complete list of nominees.
