Looks like the teen crowd in Salem U.S.A. is about to be beefed up. Days of Our Lives has sent out a casting call for Joey, a "16-year-old, gorgeous Causcasian male" and Elijah a "16-year-old, gorgeous, African American male" who also happens to be a high functioning autistic.
While the character of Joey already exists in the DAYS mythology—he's Patch (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla's (Mary Beth Evans) son—Elijah is likely a code for the character of Theo, currently played by Terrell Ransom, Jr. During her last stint head writing for DAYS, Dena Higley penned a story that saw Abe (James Reynolds) and Lexie Carver's (Renee Jones) son being diagnosed with autism. Apparently she plans to revisit the arc now that she's back writing for the soap with Josh Griffith. Theo and Joey are in the same age range as Bo and Hope's daughter Ciara, currently played by scene stealer Lauren Boles.
