Barbara Walters isn't holding anything back concerning the state of The View. The veteran journalist was candid in an interview with Vanity Fair about the ups and downs the ABC talk show she created has endured.
Walters, who still holds the title of executive producer at The View, admitted she still calls up to the control room to speak with a director or showrunner to steer a segment back on course. Walters stated:
“We are not Meet the Press,” she has decreed, when a segment has become too weedy or serious. “Or I’ll correct them if they get a fact wrong.”
According to Walters, putting Rosie O'Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg on the same panel wasn't a smart idea. Walters remarked:
I think Rosie and Whoopi together was not peaches and cream. And I don't think we needed the two of them together. It was not a combination that I would have thought was a natural.
That's an understatement.
