The man behind some of the most successful syndicated daytime programs in history has passed away. TMZ is reporting Michael King, former CEO of King World Productions, is dead.
With his brother Roger, King launched The Oprah Winfrey Show and Dr. Phil. According to TMZ, King contracted an infection while he and his wife were visiting their son in France. He was admitted at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood for pneumonia 20 days ago.

King was placed on a ventilator and did not get better. His health continued to deteriorate and at around 1 pm today we're told doctors removed him from life support. We're told he died several hours later.
CBS acquired King World Productions in 2000. The company also developed Rachael Ray and syndicated both Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!
