This sounds like fun! Variety is reporting Fox is teaming up with Paramount TV for a primetime drama based on the classic 80's flick Urban Cowboy. Hustle and Flow writer Craig Brewer is developing the vehicle.

Urban Cowboy helped cement John Travolta as box office gold when it hit theaters in 1980. The Grease and Saturday Night Fever heartthrob played Buford "Bud" Davis, a hip-swiveling cowboy who moves to the suburbs of Houston to work at an oil refinery. Bud's life is forever altered when he meets Sissy (Debra Winger) at a local honky tonk.  Bud and Sissy embark on a sexy-yet-volatile romance, set to country music, that serves as the backdrop for quite the Texas-sized saga.

Do you think the TV version of Urban Cowboy stands a chance of boot-scoot-boogying its way through development hell to make it to air? Sound off in the comments!
