Geary is a TV icon and General Hospital provided him with an exit storyline that brought back fan favorites Genie Francis (Laura), Jonathan Jackson (Lucky), Emma Samms (Holly) and Nathan Parsons (Ethan) to help bid farewell to the legend.
The soap also undid Luke turning Elizabeth's (Rebecca Herbst) son, Jake, into a speed bump and brought Frank Smith back to life to be killed once again.
This brings us to Monday's episode. The installment featured Luke bidding farewell to his sister, Bobbie (Jackie Zeman), daughter Lulu (Emme Rylan) and old buddy, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). He gave Laura a letter. I would have liked to see Luke bid farewell to his niece, Caroline (Laura Wright).
Personally, I expected the big goodbye episode to be much more Luke-centric. Even though I'm glad to see the character gone, the hour was littered with Nina's (Michelle Stafford) crazy, Franco's (Roger Howarth) desperation, Denise's (Maura West) plotting and way too much Kiki (Hayley Erin). I mean seriously, why did we need to hear Dillon (Robert Palmer Watkins) and Morgan (Bryan Craig) discussing Dillon's script and Lulu's marriage in a bar?
Beside Luke's goodbyes, the best moments of Monday's episode were the Maxie (Kirsten Storms) vs. Madeleine (Donna Mills) scenes.
What did you think of Anthony Geary final episode as Luke Spencer? Did it live up to your expectations, or fall short?
