General Hospital Script Writer Kate Hall Joins The Young and the Restless Writing Staff

I'm hearing from multiple sources veteran soap opera script writer Kate Hall has exited her position at ABC Daytime's General Hospital for a gig at CBS Daytime's The Young and the Restless.  Hall had been at GH since 2011.

Hall also wrote for the short-lived SOAPnet spin-off General Hospital: Night Shift. Her new gig reunites her with Chuck Pratt, whom she worked for during her tenure writing for All My Children (2007-11).

Suds run in Hall's blood. Her father is Peter Simon, who played Dr. Ed Bauer on Guiding Light.  Mom Courtney Simon was both a soap actress (Search For Tomorrow, Guiding Light, All My Children, Another World) and a prolific writer (SOT, Santa Barbara, Loving, GL, GH, As The World Turns, AW, AMC) during the genre's heyday.

According to sources, Hall was one of the most beloved script writers among the GH cast and crew. Her defection to daytime's top soap comes on the heels of the firing of former GH head writer Ron Carlivati.
