Those fast-talking titular Gilmore Girls are making a comeback. TVLine's Michael Ausiello is reporting Netflix is set to revive the beloved Amy Sherman-Palladino dramedy for a limited run.
Although negotiations with the cast are only now beginning, I’m told all of the major players — most notably Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop and Scott Patterson — are expected back for the continuation. Additionally, per multiple insiders, the revival will consist of four 90-minute episodes/mini-movies.
Gilmore Girls ran from 2000-06 on The WB and from 2006-07 on The CW. The show centered on Lorelai (Graham), a neurotic single mom who was best friends with Rory (Bledel), her cerebral teenage daughter.
The soapy series also followed the lives of several citizens in the zany town of Stars Hollow. Notable alums are Melissa McCarthy, Milo Ventimiglia and Matt Czuchry.
According to Ausiello, the continuation will allow Palladino to script the endings she always envisioned for her characters. The creator left the show before the endgame due to a dispute with Warner Bros.
