The country is experiencing Power Ball fever this Friday, as the jackpot balloons to a record $800 million. We can think of a few cash strapped fictional soap opera characters who could put that loot to good use!
1.) Jack Abbott — The Young and the Restless
The cosmetics mogul recently had to pony up half a billion dollars to corporate rival Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), as a result of his kid brother using a computer virus to attack the competition. Ole Smilin' Jack (Peter Bergman) could use that massive Power Ball jackpot to restore the Jabot coffers. He'd also have money left over for a Doppelganger Detection Kit for wife Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) to use the next time a lookalike Latino drug lord tries to take his place!
2.) Abe Carver — Days of Our Lives
For such a small town, Salem U.S.A. is overrun with crime on Days of Our Lives. Serial killers, fetus kidnappers and murderous newlyweds terrorized the township in 2015. Already in 2016, drunk driving ex-priests are making the highways and byways dreadfully unsafe. Maybe if Mayor Abe Carver (James Reynolds) won those $800 million smackers he could beef up his police department and take a bite out of crime?
3.) Pam Douglas — The Bold and the Beautiful
The only thing standing in the way of fashion house reception Pam Douglas (Alley Mills) and a Martha Stewart-esque domestic goods dynasty is the seed money to take her world class lemon bar recipe global.
4.) Prince Nikolas Cassadine — General Hospital
Maybe if the Greco-Russian noble won the lotto he could stop committing so many desperate acts to maintain the lifestyle he and his son have grown accustomed to? At the very least, winning $800 million would mean Nikolas (Tyler Christopher) has options the next time he has to weigh telling everyone his presumed dead brother-in-law is back in town with a new face, against keeping it a secret to steal the guy's family fortune.
5.) Lucious Lyon — Empire
Now that his company has been seized via hostile takeover, hip-hop mogul Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) is gonna need some serious stacks to come out on top. With Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) as his lucky charm, I'd say Lucious stands a fighting chance of hitting big at Power Ball!
6.) Hanna Young — The Haves and the Have Nots
Not only could pious Hanna (Crystal Fox) buy herself a new house to replace the one her trifling daughter Candace's (Tika Sumpter) evil baby daddy burned down on the hit OWN soap, she could finally purchase some decent wigs with $800 million in the bank! On second thought, doesn't the bible say gambling is a sin?
7.—11.) The Keating Five — How To Get Away With Murder
If Wes (Alfred Enoch), Connor (Jack Falahee), Michaela (Aja Naomi King), Asher (Matt McGorry) and Laurel (Karla Souza) went in together on a winning Power Ball ticket, they could afford to transfer law schools and get the hell away from their hot mess of a murder magnet professor Annalise Keating (Viola Davis)!
