Many a Daytime Confidential reader has posted comments on the blog about how the four remaining U.S. soap operas could benefit from learning how the still successful U.K. soaps do business. CBS Daytime's The Young and the Restless is poised to do just that, now that the sudser has hired former EastEnders producer Mal Young.
Young tweeted the news of his hiring late last week.
Young's television experience is quite extensive. He went from being a producer on the soap opera Brookside to co-creating And The Beat Goes On for the U.K.'s Channel 4. From 1997-2004 he served as the BBC's controller of continuing drama overseeing EastEnders and a slew of other serials. He also co-created BBC's drama Doctors.
