Remember when I told y'all NBC wanted Days of Our Lives to start taping closer to date? Looks like The Peacock Network is getting its wish!

In the March 7 issue of Soap Opera Digest, the magazine revealed DAYS will be taking a five-week hiatus. This will effectively shave off more than a month from the sudser's current production schedule, which has them five months ahead of air date.

In the March 14 issue of SOD, executive producer Ken Corday commended former co-head writer Josh Griffith for saving the soap alongside Dena Higley.  In other DAYS-related news from the magazine, new co-head writer Ryan Quan confessed to being a "soap nerd" in an interview. He says he first decided he wanted to pen suds back in junior high.  Look for Quan and Higley's stories to begin airing in August.
