File this one under bittersweet and boneheaded. Breakout soap starlet Sofia Pernas has booked a high profile pilot at The CW, after being bumped to recurring at The Young and the Restless. Deadline broke news of Pernas being cast in supernatural sudser Transylvania, after allegedly being fired from Y&R for budgetary reasons. While we're happy Pernas booked a hot new gig, it blows she won't be front and center in Genoa City anymore.

A Y&R spokesperson clarifies Pernas will continue to recur on the CBS Daytime soap opera as Marisa Sierras Santori. It should be noted, Y&R quickly clarified Lachlan Buchanan was "on recurring" shortly after news of his dismissal broke. How many times have we seen Kyle Abbott on our screens since that time?

Pernas debuted in 2015 as Marisa, a spirited Latina who helped rescue Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) from his sinister doppelganger. Marisa made her way to Genoa City where she fell hard for trustafarian Noah Newman, finally giving Robert Adamson a decent storyline after years stuck in idle. Heck, we love her so much we named her one of Daytime Confidential's Top 10 Newcomers of 2015!

Marisa is currently in a burgeoning love quadrangle with ex-husband Luca Santori (Miles Gaston Villanueva),  Noah and Noah's spoiled kid sister Summer (Hunter King). For once, we thought we'd finally get to see a young, restless saga on a soap called The Young and the Restless. Bygones.

Seriously, I don't know what Y&R is thinking!  The sexy, volatile Santoris have injected new life into this soap. I can think of half a dozen people to cut to save a few bucks before I'd touch so much as one lovely, raven lock on Pernas's head. Oh what the heck, I'll name 'em. Michael E. Knight (Dr. Neville), Kelly Sullivan (Sage) and Steve Burton (Dylan) can all go but KEEP the Santoris!
