ABC Axes Castle and Nashville, Renews The Catch

It's TV cancellation and renewal time for the big networks and it looks like ABC isn't afraid of a bloodbath. The alphabet network cancelled long-running procedural Castle, starring One Life to Live grad Nathan Fillion (ex-Joey Buchanan) after eight seasons.

ABC silenced its country crooners on Nashville after four seasons. The primetime drama that never lived up to its soapy potential starred Connie Britton and a number of daytime alum, including Hayden Panettiere (f. Lizzie Spaulding, Guiding Light), Jonathan Jackson (f. Lucky Spencer, General Hospital) and Eric Close (f. Sawyer Walker, Santa Barbara).

Meanwhile, ABC's freshman renewals include: The Catch, Dr. Ken, Quantico and The Real O'Neals.
