Kay Alden Returns to The Young and the Restless as Story Consultant (Exclusive)

Who says you can't go home again? Legendary soap opera writer Kay Alden is returning to CBS Daytime's The Young and the Restless as a story consultant! 

This marks the second high profile staff change in recent weeks aimed at restoring Y&R to its glory days. Veteran TV writer Sally Sussman recently returned as the soap's head writer.

Alden began her career at Y&R six months after its 1973 premiere. Back then, she worked as a script writer under the tutelage of the serial's co-creator William J. Bell. She stayed with the show in various capacities until 2006, serving as head writer from 1998-2006. 

“Welcoming Kay back to The Young and the Restless, joining Sally Sussman and Mal Young [executive producer], continues our commitment to telling the most powerful stories while honoring the legacy of daytime's No. 1 drama,” said CBS Daytime and CBS Entertainment Executive Vice-President Angelica McDaniel.

Sussman is also pumped to have her colleague back on board. "I am so thrilled to be working with Kay again. I can't ever imagine doing Y&R without her."
