The Young and the Restless fans are crossing X's off of weekdays on their calendars in anticipation of former head writer Chuck Pratt's last air show and Sally Sussman's first episode back at the CBS sudser. To satiate us until December 7, the incoming top scribe and co-executive producer gave a revealing interview to TV Insider's Michael Logan. Here are 5 things we learned from the piece.
1.) It Ticks Her Off The Show Hired a Bunch of Writers Who Didn't Know Y&R History
For over a decade, Sony and CBS Daytime ushered in one regime after another (save for Maria Arena Bell's polarizing tenure) who didn't know squat about the history of the late Bill Bell's classic soap opera. Sussman, a Bell student, is just as hacked off by thisy as we are, telling Logan:
"What’s happened to Y&R, and what’s happened to daytime in general, makes me sad. There have been people hired to write this show who didn’t know the history."
2.) She's Over Baby-Switch Storylines
Whaddya know? There are daytime soap writers capable of mapping out more than just the same old Sweeps period baby-switch reveals. Morina tells Logan she wants to get back to the kind of socially relevant stories Bell used to mix in with his more posh arcs/
3.) She Wants to Bring on Generations' Jonelle Allen as Hilary's Aunt
Fans of NBC's short-lived daytime soap opera Generations (which Sussman created) were given life when bitch-goddess Doreen Jackson (Jonelle Allen) got into a Dynasty-style catfight with Maya Reubens (a pre-Independence Day Vivica A. Fox). Sussman tells Logan she'd like to bring on the fabulous Allen as Hilary Hamilton's (Mishael Morgan) aunt.

4.) She Has Big Plans For Lauren, Jill and Ashley
For years, fans have had to endure Y&R creative teams trying to force us to like a new generation of lightweight divas, while all we've wanted is to see O.G. soap goddesses like Lauren Fenmore (Tracey Bregman), Jill Foster Abbott (Jess Walton) and Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) front and center. Sussman promises a change is gonna come! Look for Lauren to get her feisty streak back, while Jill endures a personal crisis and Ash will finally get a dude worthy of her.
5.) She's Finally Going to Fix Sharon Newman
Head writing team after head writing team has promised to restore romantic heroine Sharon Collins Newman (Sharon Case) to the character fans once loved. Sussman actually has a plan to do so, teasing:
"Nick. And Sharon is going to embark on a new goal that surprises everyone in Genoa City—one that brings a new person into her life. "
