As we mourn the passing of iconic soap creator Claire Labine, the Universe (by way of Gregory J. Martin) is continuing to assemble much of her old General Hospital team behind-the-scenes of The Bay.  Daytime's first black head writer, Michele Val Jean, has joined the Amazon Prime digital drama's writing team.

Val Jean, who recently celebrated her five-year anniversary at CBS Daytime's The Bold and the Beautiful, will be doing double duty on the two half-hour sudsers. She reunites with GH boss Wendy Riche (now an executive producer on The Bay) and fellow ex-GH storyteller Karen Harris who is also writing scripts for The Bay

Val Jean wrote for cult hit NBC soap operas Generations and a little show you might hear me mention from time to time on the DC podcast, Santa Barbara
