It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. How do I know? Because General Hospital has a rapist in a cage.
Franco (Roger Howarth) used daughter figure Kiki (Hayley Erin) as human bait to trap Liz's (Rebecca Herbst) rapist on the ABC soap. Franco's endgame? To get Tom (Don Harvey) sent back to Pentonville, therefore keeping Franco's lady love safe.
Franco's own unsavory past as a serial killer who pretended to rape Sam Morgan (Kelly Monaco) is playing parallel to this story arc. Do his actions to protect Liz show he finally understands the hell he put Sam through, or does Franco taking the law into his own hands drive home the fact that he's a permanently unhinged and irredeemable psychotic?
It's a gutsy story choice for head writers Jean Passanante and Shelly Altman. General Hospital fans have long complained about the soap being too ugly and dark on social media. I can't imagine this tale helping to change those opinions. On the other hand, the sudser has kept two mobsters front and center as their romantic leads for the better part of two decades. Isn't this really just par for the course?
