She's b-a-a-a-a-c-k! Former daytime executive and writer Barbara Bloom has returned to suds via a gig at General Hospital. She will write outlines for ABC's sole daytime drama.
Bloom's last daytime gig proved controversial among fans. As senior vice-president for CBS Daytime she helped develop the Let's Make a Deal reboot that took the place of cancelled soap opera Guiding Light. Soon after, The Talk replaced As The World Turns under her stewardship.
Bloom was also instrumental in bringing in Lynn Marie Latham as head writer and executive producer of The Young and the Restless back in the mid 00's. A move that proved problematic for the number one soap opera in daytime.
Bloom started her daytime career in advertising and promotion at ABC back in the 90's. She was the current executive for One Life to Live for a time before moving to the West Coast to supervise General Hospital. She was heavily involved in the GH spinoff, Port Charles both as a suit and later as a head writer.
