It looks like Matt Lauer's downfall at NBC's Today is Hoda Kotb's promotion. The network announced Kotb, who has filled in since Lauer's exit, is officially replacing him as a permanent co-host on the venerable morning show.

Kotb joins Savannah Guthrie as the show's lead hosts. According to CNN, Kobt will continue to anchor the 10 a.m. hour even though she'll be permanently rising earlier to take on the 7 and 8 a.m. hours of the show.
