Sara Gilbert is speaking out one week after ABC pulled the plug on the reboot of Roseanne. Gilbert was the brainchild behind the revival of the hit comedy series, where she was also a co-star and executive producer. She shared an emotional, yet honest discussion with her co-hosts on The Talk.
Roseanne Barr went on a racist tirade on Twitter where she described Valerie Jarrett, the former advisor of President Barack Obama, a combination of the Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes. Jarrett is Black, but not part of the radical group. Gilbert stated,
I would like to say this has been a very difficult week. A lot of people have been hurt by this. I will say I’m proud of the show we made. Roseanne has always been about diversity, love, and inclusion, and it’s sad to see it end in this way. I’m sad for the people who lost their jobs in the process. However, I do stand behind the decision that ABC made.
