Vinessa Antoine

General Hospital's Vinessa Antoine is no longer a contract player on the lone ABC sudser. Antoine has been placed on recurring status in order to take on a new role. Antoine has starred in the role of former FBI agent turned police commissioner Jordan Ashford since 2014. She has signed on to CBC’s upcoming legal drama Diggstown.

The Toronto Star is reporting Antoine will portray corporate lawyer Marcie Diggs, who ditches the rat race to work for a legal aid office in Nova Scotia. Antonie's new role makes history because she will be the first Black Canadian actress who is first on the call sheet.

What does this mean for Antoine's alter ego Jordan? According to the actress,

We were in the planning stages of the wedding and ABC hasn’t announced what will happen. But it’s a soap opera and something traumatic always happens at a wedding. But it would have been a first for a Black couple to be married on General Hospital, but we’re not sure where the storyline is going.
