Wishful Casting: Drew Garrett as Noah Newman on The Young and the Restless
When last we saw Noah Newman, he was exiting Genoa City for grandpa Victor’s (Eric Braeden) Newman Enterprises operations in Mumbai, India. The role was last played off and on by Robert Adamson (2012-2018). It was recently revealed on The Young and the Restless that Noah’s daddy Nicholas (Joshua Morrow) was the force behind Dark Horse. Dark Horse is a company Nicholas created to take down Victor and provide a new corporate home for the Newman family. Noah was listed as one of new board members.
My wishful casting for the role of Noah Newman is Drew Garrett. Most soap watchers are familiar with Garrett’s work as Michael Corinthos III on ABC's General Hospital. He played the role for over two years and was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for Best Younger Actor in a Drama Series. Since departing GH, Garrett has been involved in several movies, pilots, and primetime series. He has most recently been featured on the web series, Youthful Daze.
In my version of events, Noah returns to Genoa City with a new attitude. After spending the last few years letting life happen to him, he has spent his brief time in Mumbai learning to take chances, take charge, and take what he wants.
Noah’s new attitude will be a surprise to his mama Sharon (Sharon Case) and grandmama Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), but it fits right in with Nicholas and his Dark Horse vision. Noah will work with his father to move the company forward and continue to stick it to grandpa Victor.

Enter Mattie Ashby (Lexie Stevenson) as a new Dark Horse intern. Recently, Mattie’s mama Lily (Christel Khalil) was responsible for a car accident with tragic results that are still unfolding. In an attempt to distance herself from her family drama, Mattie leaves Hamilton-Winters Group and approaches Abby (Melissa Ordway) about a possible internship with Dark Horse.
An interview is arranged between the newly returned Noah and Mattie. She thinks he's an arrogant ass. He thinks she's a know-it-all brat. This of course means sparks will fly, and a less-than-appropriate relationship will thrive. Garrett proved on GH he is a talented actor. In addition, he's continued as a working actor ever since. With good story and a new direction, the character of Noah Newman can be, and should be, an integral part of the Y&R canvas. I believe Drew Garrett is the actor who could take Noah in this new direction and make the sparks fly!
