General Hospital: Susan Brown Dies at 86

Susan Brown

General Hospital's Kin Shriner (Scott Baldwin) posted on his Twitter feed that his onscreen stepmother, Susan Brown, passed away on August 31. She was 86.

Brown had several soap roles over the years. Her soap career started in 1959 on From These Roots. She took over the role from Ann Flood, who is most famous for her long run on The Edge of Night as Nancy Karr.

Brown was best known for her portrayal of GH's Dr. Gail Adamson Baldwin. She joined the cast in 1977. She left in 1985, but appeared on and off through 2004.

Gail was a hospital psychiatrist and Monica's (Leslie Charleson) ex-foster mother. In 1979, Gail married attorney Lee Baldwin (the late Peter Hansen). In doing so, she became stepmother to Scott, who was Lee's adoptive son.

Outside of the soap world, Brown could be found in films, prime time, and Broadway. She was also an interior designer. Shriner's tweet is below,
