Former All My Children actor Christopher Kennedy Lawford, best known for his role as Charlie Brent, has passed away at the age of 63. Lawford was the son of late actor and Rat Pack member Peter Lawford and Patricia Kennedy. His mother was the sister of the late President John F. Kennedy, and Senators Robert and Ted Kennedy.
The announcement of Lawford's death came from his cousin Kerry Kennedy on Twitter, where she stated,
TMZ is reporting Lawford was at a yoga studio in Vancouver on Tuesday night. He had a medical emergency and died. Later, it was revealed Lawford suffered a heart attack.
Many soap fans knew Lawford as the son of AMC's original teen lovers Phil and Tara Brent, but he also had a role on General Hospital as Senator Jordan.
Lawford was a lawyer and active in politics. He worked for his uncle Ted and on the Democratic National Committee. He also was a New York Times best-selling author of the books Symptoms of Withdrawal and Recover To Live.
In these books, he had a frank and candid discussion about his battles with drug and alcohol addiction. He worked with the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University where he was a life coach. He is survived by his three children and his three sisters.
