Sony Pictures Television is staying in the game show business. Long-time Wheel of Fortune duo Pat Sajak and Vanna White, along with Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek, have all inked a new deal with Sony. According to The Hollywood Reporter, their new deals have guaranteed their game shows will remain on the air through the end of the 2021-22 television season.
The chairman of Sony Pictures Television, Mike Hopkins, released a statement surrounding the deal saying,
Pat, Vanna and Alex are simply the best. Night after night, they seamlessly entertain generations of fans on two of the most beloved television programs on air. We are thrilled that they’ll continue to do so through 2022.
Since its 1983 debut, Wheel is the most-watched program in syndication, with over 26 million viewers a week in over 45 international territories. Jeopardy! is currently in its 35th season and is ranked in the Guinness World Records for the most Emmy wins by a TV game show with 34 awards.
