The ratings are out for the week of November 26-30, 2018 and the news is not completely unfortunate. (Source: Soap Opera Network). All of the daytime dramas, except Days of Our Lives, are up in total viewers for the week. But, DAYS ticked upwards in three of four key demos. Let's get into it!
General Hospital demonstrated the largest weekly gain with an increase of 96,000 total viewers. The year to year numbers continue to be a stumbling point for GH. It lost 268,000 total viewers from this week last year - though this loss is an improvement over recent numbers that neared losses upwards of half a million viewers. The #3 overall daytime drama continued for a second week at #2 in the key demo, women 18-49 (0.55/359,000), as Ryan (Jon Lindstrom) sent Kiki (Hayley Erin) to the upper room during Curtis (Donnell Turner) and Jordan's (Briana Nicole Henry) wedding. Of note: GH's highest rating for the week came on Thursday, November 29th (1.86/2.557 million) when Maura West's Ava SHOWED UP AND SHOWED OUT over Kiki's dead body. This episode was the highest daily rating GH has achieved since October 10th of this year (1.86/2.654,000).
The Bold and the Beautiful gained 89,000 total viewers for the week, but dropped 181,000 viewers year to year as Liam (Scott Clifton) told Hope (Annika Noelle) about Taylor (Hunter Tylo). Then, she wasted 4 milliseconds before running to Momma Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) with the news. The only key demo where B&B demonstrated any increase was in women 18-49 (0.5/322,000). However, that is also the only key demo where B&B resides in last place.
The Young and the Restless gained 26,000 total viewers for the week, but lost 248,000 viewers year to year as the murderous mommas continued to plot Tessa's (Cait Fairbanks) demise and Summer (Hunter King) said "deuces" to Genoa City. The #1 daytime drama also remained #1 in all key demos, highlighted by a slight increase in women 25-54 (1.01/618,000).
DAYS brings up the rear in the total viewers this week with the distinction of being the only daytime drama to drop. DAYS was down 9,000 viewers for the week and 181,000 viewers for the year as Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) and Ciara (Victoria Konefal) locked lips, and Leo (Greg Rikaart) wrecked WilSon's (Chandler Massey, Freddie Smith) bedroom reunion by turning up alive. On the upside, the advertisers were probably happy with DAYS' performance as it remained #3 among women 18-49 (0.52/340,000). It also demonstrated smaller gains among women 18-34 and adults 18-49.
