The sand through the hourglass is going to continue on Days of Our Lives. NBC has announced their longest-running and only sudser has been renewed for a whopping 55th season. NBC Entertainment Executive Vice President, Current Programming's Bruce Evans said in a released statement,
With writing that manages to weave together Salem’s history with current realities, Ken Corday and his team have ushered the show’s legacy into a new era that resonates with both longtime and new viewers. The actors and crew have such a tremendous respect for ‘Days’ and what it means to fans. We believe that level of commitment shows through and touches our audience year after year.
DAYS' executive producer Ken Corday also released a statement where he said,
It’s a great day in Salem! The sands in the hourglass will continue to flow for yet another year. We’re grateful to NBC and Sony for their continued support of the show and, of course, to our dedicated and passionate fans, we owe it all to you. Thank you for taking us through our 55th season. We can’t wait for you to see what we have in store.
The latest pick up for the sudser will have it running throughout the 2019-2020 television season. DAYS debuted in 1965 as a half-hour show, then it was expanded to an hour after 10 years.
According to the Nielsen ratings, DAYS saw a bump to 4% of total viewers from 2.45 million in live + 7 last season to 2.55 million. Along with the climb in the ratings, DAYS was last year's Emmy darling by nabbing Best Writing, Best Show, and Best Directing.
