Will Gayle King exit CBS News? Oprah's bestie and the co-host of CBS This Morning's contract is up. Many are speculating whether the Tiffany network will be able to lock her in a new contract.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, King, who has been a founding host of the CBS morning show since it first aired in 2012, and without ousted and disgraced news anchor Charlie Rose, has become an important staple to the eye network's news division.
King jokingly told the trade paper,
As far as I know I still have a contract there.
King's deal expires this year and according to sources, she has some concerns regarding the way CBS This Morning is headed with their ratings slide and anchor changes. If King does commit to staying with CBS News, she wants to be assured the show will be a success. Incoming president Susan Zirinsky has said getting King to stay is her top priority. Many CBS News sources have reported.
“Everything hinges on Gayle,” said one CBS News staffer. “She wants to be part of something competitive. I think they have some heavy lifting to do still with Gayle.”
