Rosie O'Donnell really wanted to "Talk" some things out. According to journalist and Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of The View author Ramin Setoodeh, O'Donnell was hoping she would replace The Talk's outgoing moderator and co-host Julie Chen Moonves' spot on the long-running CBS talk show.

Setoodeth revealed to Access

[Rosie] and I were talking on Twitter and I DMed her right when Julie Chen left, and she said she was interested in the seat. She went out and tried it. She was open to moving to Los Angeles at the time. She’s now said that she doesn’t want to move, but she was interested in doing the show.

O'Donnell decided to pass on the gig due to salary and according to Setoodeh,

I think money was an issue. Rosie O’Donnell isn’t cheap.

Chen Moonves exited the show September 2018 after being with the chat fest since its inception on October 2010, where she revealed to viewers in a pre-taped message she wanted to, "Spend more time at home with her husband [Les Moonves] and our young son [Charlie, 9]". Former CBS CEO and chairman Moonves left his position after sexual misconduct allegations came out.

Dancing With the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba went on to take over for Chen Moonves in January.
