Grey's Anatomy star Chandra Wilson is checking herself back into General Hospital. Wilson, who is a die hard soap fan, made two other appearances on the show. She is returning to the lone ABC sudser in a new role. Per People, Wilson will play fictional magazine Crimson's fashion editor Sidney Val Jean.

Fans will recall Wilson appeared on the show in 2014 as patient Tina Estrada and last year as  therapist Dr. Linda Massey.

Just who is Sidney Val Jean? Val Jean will be duking it out on the red carpet of the upcoming Nurses Ball with the mag's editor-in-chief Nina Clay Cassadine (Michelle Stafford), as the two are rivals.

If the name Sidney Val Jean's name sounds familiar it should. The character is named after former GH scribe Michele Val Jean. The Bold and the Beautiful and Ambitions writer stated the name Sidney is a tribute to her late father Sidney and stated,

Elizabeth Korte [GH script and associate head writer] called me one day and asked if I'd mind if they did a little tribute to me with Chanda's character, that the name had cleared and she wanted to make sure I wouldn't be upset. Of course, I was delighted and there it is.

Nice!

Wilson's third appearance will coincide with the 25th anniversary of the Nurses Ball and is slated to air May 17.
