It looks like Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight and Inside Edition are getting a bit more competition. Today, Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury and producer Will Packer are developing a half-hour, multicultural entertainment news magazine.
The show, called Central Ave, will originate from Atlanta and is “poised to deliver relevant entertainment and pop culture news through a provocative, socially conscious and diverse lens.”
Central Ave will premiere on November 4 and have a 5-week preview run on select FOX Television stations. It will be co-hosted by Julissa Bermudez and Sanya Richards-Ross.
“Central Ave will stand out in the newsmag space by presenting a unique first-person perspective on the culture-driving, trendsetting topics that mainstream audiences have a voracious appetite for. Being fronted by fresh voices that happen to be diverse and female gives us license to do stories in a way no one else can.”
