Eva Longoria is back in the driver's seat executive producing in primetime. She's also in front of the camera for her latest primetime sudser Grand Hotel. The show is based on the Spanish television series, Gran Hotel.
The American version gives a fresh take on the upstairs/downstairs story, which centers on the only remaining family-owned hotel owned by Santiago Mendoza in the sexy and multicultural Miami Beach.
Santiago's wife Gigi (Roselyn Sanchez) and his adult kids Javi and Alicia, played by former General Hospital's Bryan Craig (ex-Morgan) and TOLN's All My Children star Denyse Tonz (ex-Miranda) are loving the benefits of Santiago's hard work. Shocking secrets are hidden behind the beautiful and picturesque backdrop.
What made Longoria decide to take on this project? In an interview with Hola! the actress, who stars on the series as Beatriz Mendoza, Santiago's first wife, mother to Javi and Alicia and Gigi's best friend stated,
My big thing is always produce with a purpose and the purpose of this is to have representation in front of and behind the camera, for not only Latinos, for women, for people of color and we really got to do that with this show.
Grand Hotel airs Mondays at 10 PM EST on ABC.
